Feelings about social media after use

Social Media Apps

The use of social media can affect our moods and feelings about our lives.

Many of us spend hours each day scrolling through our feeds. Each day, we’re bombarded with posts from our family, friends, publishers, and businesses.

Comet Financial surveyed Americans about their feelings toward social networks. Feelings about experiences using social networks varies from platform to platform.

According to the survey, Snapchat users said they had a better outlook on life when they checked for updates, followed by less than 24% of Facebook and Instagram users.

Some social networks made some people feel worse after use. Comet found more than 22% of LinkedIn users said they had a worse outlook on life after checking for updates.

Negative emotions could stem from disingenuous content

Social media allows us to portray ourselves to the world in any way we want. Sometimes, what we post is not the most accurate depiction of our lives.

“While roughly half of LinkedIn users we polled said their accounts were a very accurate representation of real life, nearly 1 in 4 Twitter users and 1 in 5 Instagram users admitted their accounts weren’t at all accurate depictions of their actual lives.”

These deceitful and untruthful posts can make it harder to truly “connect” with people online, making people feel more negative depending on the social network they are using.
