Laws of UX

Law of Similarity

Similar elements (shape, color, size) are perceived as related (Gestalt). Consistent styling for all buttons, all links, all headings. Breaking similarity draws attention — use intentionally for emphasis.

In plain terms

Things that look alike seem to belong together — so style all buttons the same, and all links the same.

Why this matters

If buttons and links don't look consistent, people can't predict what's clickable. Consistency cuts guesswork for everyone and is essential for users who rely on visual patterns to navigate.
