As the year comes to a close, many brands and companies are reviewing their digital strategies for the year. A survey by Ascend2 looks at various goals and obstacles for marketing for the upcoming year.

Marketers top priorities

It’s not surprising that many surveys indicate that one of the top goals online is to either increase sales or generate more leads.

Ascend2’s survey is no different with many marketers wanting to increase this metric. Other top priorities include the following:

  • Increasing sales prospects/leads (64%)
  • Increasing customer acquisition (55%)
  • Increasing customer engagement (49%)
  • Improving brand awareness (39%)
  • Improving result measurability (30%)
  • Increasing website traffic (25%)
  • Improving web user experience (19%)

Get results from your strategy

Your strategy must be effective in order to get results. Your content whether it is on social media or your website must speak to your target audience.

According to Ascend2, a tactic that is more effective than difficult to use is more likely to be included in a digital strategy than one that is more difficult than it is effective.

Make sense, why should we work harder for something that may not work.

What people are looking for

For most companies, unless you have a unique line of work, you are likely one of many.

You and your competitors are likely seeking the same customer, hoping that you can land the sale or client.

In order to have a successful strategy, you must get in the minds of your customers and prospective customers. By understanding your audience, you’ll be able to tailor and personalize your message to your target audience.

Personalization is key to standing out among your competitors. This is hard to do because it requires people to give up some of their privacy and requires a lot of infrastructure to implement.

All brands should focus on connecting their audience with their brand and product. By building genuine emotional bonds – you will see all of the marketing tactics, that may be effective but challenging come into place.
