The gratitude challenge

Earlier this year I was challenging myself to write something I was grateful for each and every day.

Honestly, it was a challenge, and some days I did not want to do it. I would come up with excuses for not writing but once I began writing and focusing my energy on what I was grateful for it felt amazing.

And it should feel amazing because you are experiencing a higher vibration. I came across this quote a few weeks ago that has really helped me put things into perspective:

“Gratitude and Acceptance is the key to align yourself on the highest vibration, frequency or manifestation. It unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. So be grateful for the smallest of things, learn to be thankful for what you already have while you pursue all that you want. The more grateful you are the more present you become and being in the present moment is the highest form of enlightenment.” – Unknown

This year has brought many changes and challenges for many of us. With so much negativity and fear, this time of the year has naturally been a time of reflection.

At the end of the year, we often take stock of the events that took place during the past 12 months and create new goals and “New Year Resolutions”.

We do not have to wait for the beginning of a new year to practice gratitude or challenge ourselves to become the person we want to become.

For the next few weeks, I am going to once again challenge myself to write something I am grateful for on a daily basis. I invite you to join the challenge.

Each day, you can use the prompts to begin your own gratitude or find your own online. The choice is yours on how often you want to write and how public or private you want your posts to be. The choice is yours!

Example Prompts

To help get you started, here are some prompts I found that may be helpful for you to get started:

  • What does it mean to give?
  • What is something you take for granted that you’re grateful for?
  • I am looking forward to ___.
  • What is a challenge that you are grateful for?
  • What is a hidden blessing in a difficult situation?
  • How can you practice gratitude?
  • What are 3 things that you are thankful for in your life.
  • Name an accomplishment you are proud of.
  • What are some creative ways you can give to others this year?
  • Who do you know gives the best advice?
  • What small thing that happened today are you grateful for?
  • Who is the best listener that you know?
  • What personality trait are you most proud of?
  • What simple pleasures have you enjoyed today or are looking forward to enjoying?
  • What do you love about yourself?

If you are participating in the challenge, let me know in the comments. I would love to know how keeping a gratitude journal has helped or changed the way you think about yourself and the world around you.
