Growth requires you to get uncomfortable

Footprints in sand.

Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso is one of my favorite television shows. It has great storytelling, humor, inspiration, and important life lessons.

One quote that stands out to me from the show is about comfort and growth:

“If you’re comfortable while you’re doin’ it, you’re probably doin’ it wrong.” – Ted Lasso

If you have never watched the show, the series is full of these moments and one-liners. Growth requires discomfort. Without discomfort, we cannot grow and evolve.

Change requires us to change the environment around us. The leaves change in the fall because the outside environment changed. We do not have to wait for the outside world to change us. If we have the courage we can do that whenever we want.

Being comfortable all the time can be boring. Imagine living your life without having any challenges, opportunities, or risks. It is these moments that show us who we are.

So get uncomfortable and take risks. The more you take the more fulfilled you will be. Yes, sometimes you will fail, but other times it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
