Seeking food bank donations for the holidays

Donations at a food bank

The effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic has spared no one.

The pandemic has caused many hardships and challenges whether it is getting sick, work, childcare, being able to put food on the table, or a combination of factors.

Giving back is important to me and this holiday season I am raising money for the Regional Foodbank of Northeastern New York. Feel free to donate or start your own fundraiser. Every dollar counts. For every dollar donated, the food bank says it is able to provide 4 meals to people in need.

Most food banks are in great need of donations and volunteers due to increasing demand from the pandemic. Find a food bank in your local community.

If you are interested in donating food items instead of money here some suggested items you can donate:

  • Peanut butter
  • Canned soup
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned stew
  • Canned fish
  • Canned beans
  • Pasta (most prefer whole grain)
  • Rice (most prefer brown rice)

Avoid any items that are perishable, require refrigeration, leftovers, baked goods, and items that have questionable packaging. Also, regardless of the items you are donating, be sure to check the expiration date.
