What it means to me to live fully

Person looking up at the stars.

There is so much in the world to discover.

Living fully means fully embracing the world as is without expectations. Everywhere you go there are opportunities waiting to be found. Moments to be experienced. Surprises that catch you off guard.

No matter where we are in the world, our days start and end the same way. The only limitation on what happens throughout our days is ourselves. This gives us enormous power to control our own destiny and create the world we want for ourselves

Once we take responsibility for where we are in our life we can then make the necessary changes to live the life we want. For each of us, what it means to live fully will differ, but I think in general it will all revolve around taking risks, trying new things, and “crossing items off our bucket list.”

I also think living fully is leaning into every moment of our lives. Even the more uncomfortable parts of life. The sad parts of life. The parts that are more negative and make us upset and angry. Those are the parts that many of us want to push aside and only cherish the positive and happy moments.

Living fully to me also means balance. We need the unhappy and negative parts of life to contrast the positive and happier moments. Our struggles, happiness, success, and failures do not define us. These are all labels we assign to ourselves, situations, and others.

When we live without fear, labels, and expectations, that is when we truly live fully. It is allowing ourselves to turn off the phone when we are with people who are important to us, being out in nature, and reconnecting with ourselves. Living fully is embracing and forgiving our past to make room for the new.
