Inclusive Design

Design for the full range of human diversity from the start — not as a remediation step. Microsoft's framework: recognize exclusion, learn from diversity, solve for one/extend to many.

In plain terms

Designing from the start for the full range of people, rather than bolting on fixes for 'edge cases' later.

Why this matters

Designing for the full range of people from the start is cheaper and better than retrofitting fixes later — and it routinely produces solutions (captions, voice control) that end up helping far more users than first intended.
