Podcast listening is on the rise thanks to the growth of smartphones and internet-connected devices.

According to Pew Research Center, the percentage of podcast listeners in America has substantially increased since 2006.

Pew found 40% of Americans 12 years or older have ever listened to a podcast.

The following chart highlights the growth of podcast listening since 2006.

Podcasting is a great way to personalize your brand and allow people to take that information on the go. While video has taken over most of social media, you can’t watch a video while driving.

This is one of the main reasons why radio is still around and will always have a place in our society. Sometimes we don’t want to have to focus all of our attention on watching a video or reading an article.

Audio-only content like listening to the radio or a podcast allows us to do other things while still being able to consume the content. You can do that with video, but then it would essentially become a podcast.

Having a podcast can put your content front and center to people on the go. It’s also a great way to showcase your expertise and having brand validation. As your podcast grows, so will your social value in your niche.

💡Tip: If you regularly blog, you could use your blog content as a springboard for podcast topics.
